I just want people to tell me, from their experience, how long it too to get to the level they are at. I don't want to get into verbal arguments with anyone, I'm just here reading all your posts, and yes I do thank you for your advice, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying i'm the all powerful guitar God, I know there are people better than me.
Well, I don't know how you classify the "level" one's at? To me, the most important part of playing is being able to get what music is playing inside your head onto your instrument. Once I'm able to do that, I'll be satisfied with my playing.
I don't use a metronome that often, so I can't tell you how fast I can play. I can tell you it's as fast as I think I'd ever need to play. I've been playing for about 6 years and when I first got my guitar I'd practice about 1-2 hours a day. Now, with school and work, I probably play maybe an hour a day, and it's not really practice since I want to enjoy the time I have to play.
I would sa, if you can comfortably play 1/16ths at 140bpm after 9 months, that's good progress. Just be careful with practicing so much, you'll tend to fall into ruts. Once, again, I'm not telling you what to do exactly, just offering some of my advice. I find that a good practice needs about a half an hour or so of just jamming and improvising. Keeps it interesting, and also keeps the fun in playing. Remember why you picked up the guitar. Not to be able to play 1/16ths at 240bpm, but being able to play music in general. Keep up the good work, and don't forget to share the tunes.
Sometimes I hit notes only dogs can hear.
