Challenging this guy's authority is an excercise in futility, as long as your mom has his back, anyway. Unecessarily butting heads with him is only going to make life tougher for you and probably result in increased tension within the family. Direct confrontation is not the only way to stand up to this guy.

If you really want to stick it to him, make the better grades.

Obviously, he has some fairly stone age ideas for you. By doing better in school you not only take away his justification for forcing them on you, you do something good for yourself.

The more you can say "my homework is done, my room is clean and my chores are done," the less amunition he has and the better chance you have of getting backup from other people in your family.
