just thinking, it is possible to use a patch-bay to split signal as well if it supports parallel, normal and half normal modes. I can't remember the details of the top of of my head however i will have a look when I get home !

I suspect a Behringer Ultrapatch pro is also probably a cheaper option but wont have on / off type switches.
