Ditto. I've had the X2N recommended to me on here before, but it might not be what you're looking for.

What kind of guitar do you play? I've heard that on mahogany guitars the X2N loses some of its finer qualites, and in that case something like the Duncan Pearly Gates would be the more practical.

Just about any pickup from Duncan or DiMarzio will rock through a good amp. Good as in probably not solid state. I'm torn between the two so I can't tell which one you'll like more. Either way you should definitely look for a pickup that will give you good tone instead of simple looking for the hottest pickup on the market.
