No special tools, just a small hammer and a cloth or something to lay over the nut when your tapping it in. Just get the old one out and carefully tap the new one in. Just be careful not to crack any of the wood on the fingerboard. I used super glue since the guitar is not the greatest of quality.
Probably not the best method of installing a nut, but it worked for me. You may want to see if you get any other responses on the procedure.
