the POD's are great for recording. Another route would be, if your amp has a line out, to run the line out to a direct box that simulates a speaker cabinet (behringer makes one for about $35 US) and then from the direct box, go to the mic input on your soundcard. If there is no line out, (I don't know for sure) you could probably go from the effects send to the direct box, assuming your amp has an effects loop.
