EB's are the greatest. I've used GHS boomers on my Epiphone and the sound compared to the EB's on my ESP (same gauge and relatively close sounds from both guitar's pickups) can't come close to the joy it brings my ears. Currently using 10s as I'm used to 9s. Seems murder on my fingers...

But yeah, EB's all the way. The good doctor knows how to pick strings. :P
