There's a couple of great singers that I can think off. I'm listing them in no particular order of greatness

Males:

1. Freddie Mercury (Queen)- most versatile singer- can sing both high and low, falsetto or chest voice, gentle or rugged... you name it, he can do it!
2. Dennis De Young (Styx)
3. Russel Hitchcock (Air Supply)- the cleanest singer of them all (ie. doesnt scream or distort voice) and has a range of 5 1/2 octaves!!! (just listen to "Lonely Is The Night")
4. Peter Cetera (Chicago)- another clean singer who can hit the high octaves
5. Klaus Meine (Scorpions)- just listen to "Always Somewhere"
6. Steve Perry (Journey)- Anyone heard "Open Arms" lately?
7. Kevin Cronin (REO Speedwagon)
8. Brian Johnson (AC/DC)- well... he really screams more than he sings but no one can scream as well as Brian. Must be the steady intake of alcohol, cigs, and drugs.
9. Steven Tyler (Aerosmith)- i think he has a higher range than bonjovi and axl rose. Great attack and expression.
10. Jon Bon Jovi (Bon Jovi)- not really an explosive singer and doesn't have the same impressive range as the others but his voice just suits his songs. I think he sings better than Axl rose. Axl rose's voice is just ****. Only good song that he sounded good singing was "Sweet Child"
10. Firehouse's lead singer- I'd put him in the same league- voicewise- with Bon Jovi.
11. Meatloaf (Meatloaf)- hot patootie bless my soul, I really love that rock and roll! This guy can also hit the high octaves.
12. Paul McCartney
13. John Lennon- Love his natural rough, nasal tone and his falsettos. People imitate it but can't quite get it.
14. Stevie Wonder- Did anyone saw that concert where he sang second voice to Pavarotti? That was awesome!
15. Fankie Lymon (The Teenagers)- The father of the girl group sound of the 50's and 60's and the prototype for the likes of Michael Jackson, Lymon was a natural soprano with great showmanship. Too bad he died young.

Females
1. Bette Midler- Listen to her song "When A Man Loves A Woman." That's what you call power.
2. Karen Carpenter (The Carpenters)- I love the cool smooth voice.
3. Janis Joplin
4. Mama Cass (The Mammas & Pappas)- Just listen to "Dream A Little Dream Of Me"
5. Ella Fitzgerald- Amazing range.
"Lets seeā€¦ well I play the guitar and when I'm not playing the guitar, I think about playing the guitar. My other favorite instrument, is the guitar and if I aspired to play any other instrument, it would be the guitar...

I canā€™t sing so I sing through my guitar. So when the sound guy says: ā€œYour guitar is too loud!ā€ I think: "Why does he never say that to the vocalist?"

Actually, I've always been here- I just don't post as much as I used too. I rarely have time to use the net anymore because of a busy schedule composed of school, work, and giging. But when I do get a break, I make it a point to go to this site, surf around, and read the many new and interesting things that people write. There's so many new members since the last time I was active but it's nice to see you guys still hanging around. Thanks for noticing Jolly.

I downloaded this song because of this post, but I was not blown away at all by Geroge Michael's voice. I seem to remember it being much better and having a clearer tone. Absolutely no comparison to Freddie Mercury.
... and that's all I have to say about that.
