I put up a brand new pair of Sennheizer headphones still in the box for $75 (brand new they're $150). The ad only stayed up for a week, I didn't get one bid and now eBay is bugging me for $6.00 to pay for the ad.
mmm I don't think so...
There's a lot of resistance to a high starting price, but once a few bids come in, the price usually ramps up to a more reasonable number. I find it works better to start at $0.01 and let 'em rip. You can place any reserve price you want on the item, but eBay's fee is based on that 1-cent starting price. That may have changed since I last sold anything (a year ago), but it's worth looking into.
