OK, I just checked... it made a nasty "pop" when I turned it on and that sent me into a panic! But then I realized the battery was dead, so I replaced it and rechecked--
Verdict: No audible noise when switching on or off. I guess you've got a faulty switch or something.
A side point: I just changed the potentiometer on my wah (the original one crapped out) and the folks at Long & McQuade said that they'd honour the original warranty which was extended by my credit card, even though I bought the wah "open-box" (i.e. it was a returned item sold "as-is"). That brought the cost of the repair down to $2! I was pretty happy. Unfortunately, they lost the battery cover, which I'm still trying to get from them. They can't seem to locate one, but it is supposedly forthcoming.
Since when do you have a 535Q? I love mine to death!
... and that's all I have to say about that.
