I just looked at the website you referred to. Looks pretty good.

Basically, there are five different Chord forms. C-A-G-E-D. The important word there is FORM. Of course their are varations of these forms, such as sus, aud, dim, etc.

Each of these forms have associated scale forms. The can be Pentatonic, Major, Minor or some other mode. What you are doing with chord phrasing is combining the chords with single notes, double-stops, triads, etc to create a more melodic progession. Little Wing is a perfect example, and so is Sisters by Steve Vai.

This approach is so foreign to many guitar players that it's hard to grasp. My advice is to look into a book by Bill Edwards called Fretboard Logic SE. Here is the link: Fretboard Logic
