I personally find that most sweeping noise is eliminated by my left hand fingers as I roll them across the fretboard, but my right hand just slightly palm mutes to make sure that nothing rings out. If you can do it with a floating right hand, props to you, but I find that the right hand adds a little security to my goal of a noiseless sweep.
