Expand your musical horizons and dive into these lessons!

Included In This Package:

DADGAD is one of several Alternate Tunings (sometimes called "Open Tunings") that are used on the acoustic guitar. To get into DADGAD tuning, you will change the tuning on three of your strings, and leave the other three as they were in standard tuning. First, using your open D string (fourth string) as a reference note, tune your low E string DOWN to a D. It will be one octave below your open D string. Second, again using your open D (fourth string) as a reference note, tune your high E string DOWN to a D. It will be one octave above your open D string. Finally, using your open A (fifth) string as a reference note, tune your second string (B string), down to an A. It will be one octave above the open A string. That's it! Your strings, low to high, should now be tuned D, A, D, G, A, D.

Anders will introduce the concept of alternate tunings starting with drop D tuning as well as the lesser known double drop D.

Anders will explore the classic open G tuning.

In the realm of rock music, innovation and creativity have always pushed the boundaries of what the guitar can do. One of the most intriguing and inspiring ways to achieve this is through the exploration of alternate tunings. In this tutorial, we'll dive into 3 alternate tunings that will open the door to a whole new host of sonic possibilities.

First I will explain to you what CAD tuning is, and why it can be useful. After that I will teach you a short little metal song I wrote just for this tutorial. At the end of the tutorial, as a bonus, I will also show you how you can take this tuning one step further, and tune to CADGCEb.

In this tutorial, we'll introduce you to drop C tuning. This tuning is used by many metal artists, as it is a full two whole steps down from the standard tuning and gives a powerful, deep sound to your guitar. We'll look at how to tune this way, some chords and shapes you can use, and play an example progression.
