Gear You Gotta Try #10

LunaStone  The Pusher Volume Boost Pedal – Retail MAP $99

Danish guitar pedal brand, LunaStone, is mainly known for its range of tube-like TrueOverDrive pedals. Now, the company adds a non-drive pedal to the product line: The Pusher.

A booster that will take guitars from soft to loud, or from loud to even louder – yet clean and with a natural and musical flavor. It is also perfect for pushing a tube amp into true saturation bliss, taking roaring overdrive to screaming overdrive.

LunaStone founder and head engineer, Steen Grøntved, comments: “I am extremely excited about this tiny pedal that makes a much bigger difference than the physical size indicates. While clean boosting may be a simple concept to grasp, high-quality boosting of an analog signal is not just about notching everything up a few decibels. That’s easy."

"But just like I spent countless hours on testing analog components to develop our TrueOverDrive circuit, The Pusher builds on methodical testing and listening sessions to find the best possible ingredients that make up this highly intoxicating tone."

The Pusher offers 15 dB of clean boost, has a true bypass design and is scheduled to ship October 2016. For more information visit LunaStone Pedals

Veillette Aero Electric-Acoustic Guitar - MSRP  $2750

Veillette Guitars presents the Aero electric-acoustic Guitar. Combining the ruggedness and ergonomics of classic Veillette Journeyman guitars with the response and character of their acoustic instruments, it offers a unique take on the electric/acoustic guitar with a surprisingly acoustic sound for live performance and recording. The Aero provdes the ideal response to the challenges of delivering the tonal properties of an acoustic guitar with a reliable, natural-sounding pickup/preamp system that works well through many different types of amplification.

A unique feature in the Aero's construction is that the bridge/top connection and mechanics are exactly those of a standard-built acoustic instrument, except the "floating" responsive area of the spruce top is greatly reduced. This results in an exceptional acoustic tone with no danger of feedback. It's a solid-body guitar with very sophisticated chambering to give it the heart of a true acoustic. The Aero features a Solid Sitka spruce top, mahogany neck, acoustic style pin bridge (pinless bridge is an option), 25" scale, and 22-fret neck.  It also includes the D-Tar Wavelength piezo/preamp system and case.

Veillette Guitars are handmade in Woodstock, NY. With full custom-shop flexibility, almost any special request can be accommodated.  For more information visit  Veilletteguitars.com

Electro=Harmonix MEL9 Tape Replay Machine – List Price $295.10

The polyphonic MEL9 uses the same extraordinary technology as the B9, C9 and KEY9 to transform your axe and resurrect the sound of vintage tape-based keyboards. It pays homage to nine of the coolest Mellotron® sounds: Orchestra, Cello, Strings, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Brass, Low Choir and High Choir. It works on guitar without modifications, special pickups or MIDI implementation and tracks bends, slides, even whammy dive bombs!

You can also put it to work with your bass down to the open A string as well as keyboards. The MEL9 includes independent Effect and Dry volume controls so you can create the perfect mix at the Effects output with a Dry Output jack to output your input signal at unity gain. The Attack control sets the volume swell speed. As it’s turned clockwise the notes fade in more gradually, while the Sustain control adjusts the release time after a sound is stopped. As it’s turned clockwise, the fade out time increases.

The MEL9 Tape Replay Machine comes equipped with a standard EHX 9.6DC 200mA power supply, is available now.  For more information visit http://www.ehx.com/products/mel9
