Bonus Free Lesson #1
Break out of Pentatonic Jail! by Ron Sayer

This is one of my favourite devices for breaking out of box pentatonic patterns. First learn the arpeggios then incorporate them into solos in their relative minor key. This example is in Bb minor, hence the arpeggios are in C# major...

4-Step Fingerpicking: Chord Progression #1 by Lisa McCormick

When playing the 4-step fingerpicking pattern with a variety of chords, always begin the pattern by playing whichever bass note is appropriate for the chord you are playing. Then, play the remainder of the pattern on the highest three strings of the guitar.

Parson's Green B-bender by Wayne Neal

This segment is to help folks who have never used a B-bender, or who are new to the B-bender understand them. Benders can be hooked up on any string you want. The B string has been the string of choice by country players for some time and has pretty much became the standard.

Rollin and Tumblin by Nick Marchant

I use my index finger to pluck the note and the same finger plus my R/H thumb to damp the string being plucked and the strings below, - I'm sort of holding an imaginary plectrum so that when I push down towards the body of the guitar the thumb/finger combination completely deadens the bottom 3 strings.

3 Strings Sweep Picking by Benoit Nadeau

Here's a little sweep picking exercise. Sweeping is something between playing arpeggio style and strumming. You don't actually pick every note but your don't strum either :). Like any exercise, start slow and speed it up. Pattern 2 will help you move your position from one string to another and pattern 3 will help shift the position up and down the neck.

Chromatic Ending in the Key of F by Gavin Audagnotti

The idea here is to pedal the note F on top of each voicing. The chords descend by a half step (chromatically) till you reach the I Chord This is a great exercise to use to warm up and a good workout for your left hand. I played the same chord progression 3 different ways.
