fast-fish has made some friends around here
Tune down a half step when playing SRV. I use a Strat, strung with 11s going through a tube screamer and a fender twin. It's dead on with some reverb.

IMO

To sound like SRV, you need to life his life with all the influences he had. You need to listen to the same music he did, and to be able to interpret it the way that he did. SRV could pick up any guitar and sound like SRV, so that should tell you something about the equipment. His sound was 10% equipment, and 90% him.
