Oh boy! It's that wonderful time again where you go up the corporate ladder to something that pays more $$$. I've been selling cars since mid-January at a Chevy-Buick delaership. Selling cars is a pretty good way to make money; there are people in the industry that make $300,000 a year selling really basic, bread-and-butter cars like Chevy's, Hondas, and Fords.

The problem I had is that the dealership I worked at has a bad rep, and some of the managers were somewhat lethargic. Nobody at this dealership was making anywhere near $300,000 except the owner, no, everyone was making more like $25,000 or so, which isn't bad but when you take into account the fact I was working 80

Let's take for instance last month. I made $1700 in commission. After taxes I have about 1300 payable. Great. So I'm putting in 80 hours a week and only making what most people who work at Kinko's 40 hours a week get. Something ain't right. I stood back and looked at the situation: everyone said I had more potential than anyone else at the dealership, customers said that I was the best salesman they'd ever met, etc etc. I was averaging talking to one customer a day. That's not so good. This was because of the low traffic at this delaership.

Conversely, I went to a VW delaership and there were literally dozens of customers who hadn't been helped. The board listing sales for the day had more than we had in one week. So I made the decision to find another dealership.

I was lucky enough to demo a car to a guy who owns a real estate company. He liked my style so, well, this Monday I'll start training to sell real estate. Yes that's right, by day, I sell mortgages, and by night, I rock! To me what really makes this crazy is that I'm only 19, and a high school dropout. I guess that good things do still happen to good people, occasionally.

That's not bad considering I have a music degree, GIT grad, and working in car audio LOL.
Must be a love thing.... cause it sure isn't a money thing

During holidays(any holidays) I work at a dog/cat kennel. During the summer, I work + or - 40 hours a week, and by the end of the summer $2000. Not bad for 16 years old.Plus other holidays. Yep, there are good jobs out there, you just gotta know when to jump on opportunities.

I'm a programmer. The pay is really good. That I like.

But I'm becoming convinced that programming jobs are going overseas over the next several years, and any programmers left here in the states will be making a fraction of what they used to make.

That I don't like so much.

So I'm in the hunt for a new career. I'm giving serious thought to writing kids' books. In fact, I have an idea for my first book.

Keep several irons in the fire...that's my motto.

Authoring is a good field to be in if you can work it properly. If you look at the people who made/make the popular kids' series, there's some serious bling bling floating around there, because kids like to have a number of books starring their favorite characters.

Real estate is still probably one of the safest fields to be in. I've always wanted to get into the field, and this seems like, God willing, this may be my golden doorway. I've studied quite a bit, and my plan is basically to have my own multi-unit building I can rent out by the time I'm 22 (again, I'm currently 19).

For those who are relatively new to the forum, my epic tales of misfortune can be found numerous places on this forum. I came from a pretty nasty background, had very little support from anyone, and I guess this is why I'm so into this. I don't have anyone sending me checks to live off of while I get myself planted in the ground, hell, I dropped out of school to get my first guitar. I have the tact, I just need the direction, I suppose.

One of the pieces of advice my dad gave to me that stuck was when he said, "everything is a means to an end." I guess that's the case here.
