The best guitarist ever, hands down, is probably Stanley Jordan. Not only does he have amazing technique (ala Satriani or Vai or SRV), but he can play 2 guitars at the same time! He can fingertap with the best of them!

There are so many good ones out there, and its all opinion on who are the best of all time.
I guess I'd pick Jimi hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, SRV, Vai, Satch, ummm, I know there are a bunch more, but I'd hafta listen to some music or something to decide.
