I come up with these really cool riffs , lay down a cool drum part for it and thats as far as I get with it
There seems to be no "Structure " in my New "Tunes"
So here I sit with all of these Bits and Peices of cool riffs with drums added and dont know where to go next
Please Help!!!!

Thx, warmfret

PS Im currently using a Tascam488 for my main multitrack
Samplitude "Producer" and Cakewalk HS 9
I use a Korg M1R for my backing tracks
and Native Instruments FM7 Synth for cool Synth stuff

ya writin lyrics or just music ? its so easy if
you've got lyrics to structure it around. if no
lyrics then try to find similarities in some o yer
riffs and try to make em flow smoothly from one
to another. ya might have 2 or 3 riffs or chord
progressions in different keys but with a similar
kickback or somethin ya can change the keys to
make em work.?

Are you alone? or are you writing along with another dude?

i think i already mentioned this, but itīs very helpful if you jam with someone else over your riffs, for then it will pretty sure lead to another riff and then to another riff etc.

Thatz the way i work with my band, and it works pretty well. If someone has a new riff and doesnt know where to fit it in or how to find a good next part, then we sit together (my second guitarist and i) and we jam over that thingy - and most of the time one of us has an idea how to continue. Sometimes we even change the riff, etc.

And if that doesnt help, we put the riff away for a few weeks and try it again later.
