That is really going to be a subjective question. I have no experiance with Delelectro, but I really do like my boss pedals. Plus, if you can find mods for just about all of them if you are a pedal tweeker like I am.

quality wise - go with boss.

sound wise - it's a matter of taste.

i have experiences with one of each... i have a DS-1 and it's great for what it is, a straight forward disto and the quality is undeniable. a friend had a Dano Metal distortion, can't remember what it was called... but it broke with moderate use. now it just makes a primal screaming noise... boss might be slightly more expensive but still worth it in the long run.

The Danelectro FX pedals are good budget gear but Boss definitely is the superior make as you would expect for the extra cash. I think Electro Harmonix are good too with prices cheaper than boss but equivalent quality.

I have several BOSS pedals that have endured the massive stomping of my feet for many years. I would recommend them for their durability, and the fact that they are easily accessible both new and used.

Danelectro pedals are cheap, and while some of them can really take a beating I have not found them to last too long (minus some of the older models in the larger casings.)

Good luck. This journey can be never ending.
