I just got a 120 watt Blue Voodoo head (used), I was going to get a Vintage Club 4x12 cab (w/ Celestion Vintage 30s), but that fell throught, so I had my local music store order me a standard Blue Voodoo 4x12 slant cab. I might end up buying something else tomorrow, though, because I'm taking the 2 hour trip to a big music store (with a friend).

By the way, does anyone here have a brand reccomendation on super high gain 12AX7s and 6L6s? My Voodoo head sounds good, but the 2x12 Voodoo combo I had sounded better (I think the tubes in the head are old). Doesn't Mesa use Electro-Harmonics tubes? How do the Blue Groove tubes sound? Are Sovteks reliable?

I'm thinking of buying a new amp, like next week or something.
I'm thinking about getting the Peavey 5150 head, with a Marshall 2x12 (1936) cabinet.
(4x12's will follow soon)
Any oppinion about this?
Are there other good 2x12 cabs around the same price as the Marshall?

Of course i gotta hear every amp and cab the store has before i make my decision.

you might check out the Carvin Legacy 2X12 cab it has Celestion Greenbacks loaded in it for a good price.

Also, not many people ever consider 4X10 cabs but I've played through 4X10 (semi open back) cabs and the effect is really nice. The bottom end may not be what you're looking for but it is punchier and tighter than a cab loaded with 12s (generally speaking) and the highs seem a bit sweeter.

I've been thinking of mixing one of my rigs with one 4X10 cab and one 2X12

Just a thought.
