It's actually pretty easy once you get used to it. What you should do is to find a really nice tapping solo, maybe "One" by Metallica (very good song). Just start out slow and keep speed up slowly. This works for ANYTHING on guitar. Eventually, you'll get used to it.

Oh and by the way, Kirk Hammett is God!!!

O.K., but I still don't know HOW to tap. Sure, a solo with lots of that stuff would help but waht good is it if I don't know how to tap? Thanks for the song Idea though

Strange. I've never known anyone who didn't know how to tap. Well, here's the basics: You have to use your right hand (usually the middle finger) to "tap" the indicated fret. If your left handed, use your left hand. I really do a bad job of explaining it, but if you check out some of the tutorials they have at guitartricks, I'm sure someone will explain it A LOT better than I can.

Oh, and Kirk Hammett is God.

Tapping

Simply utilize the finger (index or middle) on your picking hand as a 'sixth finger' for your fret hand for hammer-ons and pull-offs. You'll get it, and you'll love it!
