The Welcome of Shadows (Beta)

Got the first 2 sections of this complete...possibly.

The lead sections are a bit drab in my opinion.
I can do much, much better...haven't been inspired lately
really.

May need the proverbial 2-3 week break from playing to get
re-inspired again.

See what ya think anyway...if ya like.

First hard rythym section is again, by Matt "Hammer".

The second rythym section I actually downloaded and cropped
from the internet.

All lead and meldoy work and all arranging again...by me...BMG.

I'll definitely re-do the lead work I think...as it's not really what I
want. It's only passable in my book.

I definately agree that you should redo the solo. It doesn't really have much of a melody, and some of the licks towards the end didn't sound like they were going anywhere; it sort of sounded as though you had run out of ideas.

The intro is AWESOME though, it's got an eerie sci-fi feel to it. When you redo the solo, you should incorporate bits of the intro melody so that it fits the song.

The volume swell intro thing sounds out of time. Other than that, it sounds pretty good to me.

How do you have your guitar tuned?

Actually it's not out of time but rather in rubati time. Listen a few times
to see what I mean.

I am going to re-do all the solos as they lack my usual fire to say the least.
I just needed to take a week or two break which I have done to get a
fresh drive and feel for things.

Tuning?

I always tune to a Standard open tuning. Sometimes a slight micro-flat
standard tuning, but mostly just standard.

i.e. E...A...D...G...B...E

I guess it was just the swell effect that made it sound a little out of time.

The reason I asked about the tuning, is because it sounded like it was tined a lot lower than standard.

Nahhh....I don't go for that drop-z tuning crap...least not on solos/lead-work.

When I get some decent gear...I may use a low tuning to get some
Bassy crunch...but there is not crunch in the old R2 unit.

Getting this together....though taking my time with the leadwork.

This is the FINAL...Intro, which you have heard and has remained
the same since it's inception.

Also though...the first heavy section with some final leadwork that
will lead into the next section. Nothing too fancy yet...gotta save
something for the climax....

Then there will be...a 3rd and faster section, of which I have about
3 possiblities woked out....with finally a return to the first heavy section
....then theme to close...

Next post will be when this thing is finished...when that is...who knows?

Hope you like it or something...
