my brother's just bought a Boss GT3, after telling me for months he was about to buy a Pod. I'm currently amp-less and im looking for something decent to record straight to my pc looking to use in a live situation in a few years time. my bro LOVES the GT3 but im not sure which to choose. what are peoples opinions on these 2 pedals when compared to eachother?
cheers,
al

The GT-3 definately has a lot more effects along w/ all kinds of options on how to control them. If you're looking for reliability and something with limitless effects then I'd go w/ the GT-3. The pod is also great because it's more convenient to use. Although it doesn't have the amount of effects that the GT-3 has.

You can listen to my "music" it was all done with a GT-3 and I use it live as well...although it is not that great live in my opinion when used as a preamp...great as an effects processor minus the preamp if you're going through an amp's effect loop. I pretty much just use it for the synth sound when I play out and another dma for the main guitar sounds.

I love it for recording, practicing, as as an effects pedal (minus the preamp) when playing through a regular amp

almost all the sounds in my music files are of the gt-3

pod

I haven't used the other, but the POD works great for me. I used it in the studio, but not for PC recording. It sounded great on the album though. I also use it live. It definitely requires some noodling if you use it with your amp, but I love mine. It sure beats my old processor(KORG A4) or any stompbox lineup. It's well worth the $300.
