I've got a local coffee house that I'm going to play at really soon, but I'm just trying to finalize my set. I'm gonna do all of the songs with just myself and an acoustic guitar... it's a great atmosphere for that. So far I have a few originals to do.... and then I plan on doing covers of: Glycerine (Bush), All Along the Watchtower, Wonderwall (Oasis), Time of Your Life (Greenday), Freebird, Brick (Ben Folds Five), Hows It Going to Be (Third Eye Blind), Hanging By A Moment (Lifehouse), Time (Hootie & Blowfish), Estoy Aquí (Shakira... haha, its cool), & Layla. I'm still working on some others also... but I want to try to fill a two hour slot with a 15 minute break. Does anyone have suggestions of nice mellow acoustic pieces I could play in order to fill that timeslot? Thanks...

You're doing this all by yourself (singing too I assume) and you're only 15 or something? I'm impressed!

Hmmm, I wish I still had the songlist I used for a similar sort of thing. I am a huge fan of Bob Dylan (two more days until I see him live), as some people might have noticed. Songs like Just like a woman (listening to it now), Don't think twice, Lay lady lay, the songs of his that don't have the all too familiar 1, 4, 5, that make many of his songs sound the same if you don't have a lead guitarist playing any unique lines. Autumn Leaves, Gee Baby aint I good to you, jazz standards like that are good if you are into that kind of thing.
Ummm, looking through some of my stuff....
The Boxer is a great song, specially to get people singing along, heaps of people know it. Also, Neil Young songs, like Old Man, and The Needle and the Damage done.
Can't think of many more at the moment that work for solo and voice, but I hope this helps.

Neil Young

I would have to say that just about any Neil Young tune would be appropriate. Give it a try.

Some suggestions from older material - I don't know if you're limiting your selections in any way.

"Blackbird" "Yesterday" "Rocky Raccoon" Beatles
"As Tears Go By" Rolling Stones
"Tears In Heaven" Clapton
"Dust in the Wind" Kansas (leave out the instrumental)

Simon & Garfunkel, James Taylor, Jim Croce among many others can provide material. I know this stuff is ancient but hope it helps.

Norweigan Wood, A day in the life (minus the instrumental orgasm bit).
House of the rising sun
Killing Floor
It's all over now, baby blue
Stan (just kidding)
I was listening to Jeff Buckley sing Hallelujah, by Leonard Cohen, that would be pretty cool, though depressing.

Yer doin' Brick?
Cool, though I would have gone for One Angry Dwarf and 200 Solem Faces, Song for the Dumped, or possibly Uncle Walter... none of those are mellow though.
I would suggest:
Gone for Good- Morphine
Lady Picture Show- STP
And so I Know- STP
Big Empty- STP
Mexico- The Refreshments (great one for a laugh)
I'll think of stuff later, but I should be sleeping now...
