Hey i am buying a wah wah pedal and just wanted some suggestions as to what pedal to buy. I went out to guitar center today and wuz able to try 3/4 of the wah pedals I am thinking of buying. I could not make up my mind as to which one I should get...so I want some suggestions. Which between these 3 should I get.

VOX Clyde McCoy
Dunlop JH-1 Crybaby (the Jimi Hendrix one)
Dunlop DB-01 Dime Cry Baby From Hell

I also wanted to try the VOX v847 wah...which is just the regular one but Guitar Center didn't have it. I am leaning towards the VOX Clyde McCoy, but I am still confused. I am trying to get as close as possible to the Kirk Hammett wah sound. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I love Vox wah's; they have a really great sweep and a really great sound overall. When I eventually get a wah it will most likely be a standard Vox.

Since you're into metal and are dead set on EMG's, you may want to think about the Dimebag Darrel signature Cry Baby From Hell wah, though. Those things are pretty cool.

I've got an old Dunlop JH-1. It works well for Blues and classic rock. I don't know if it's what you want for metal, though. It's sweet and smooth, with a fairly wide pass-band. I think for metal you'd prefer something a bit tighter.

I had/have a Crybaby it sounded a bit harsh and high endish to me. Plus it broke about a year after I bought it...the rocker came unscrewed. Now it makes a clicking noise also. SO I dont use it.


I have a POD and just got the big floorboard with a wah built in...i believe it is modeled after a Vox wah and its very nice to my ears.

I've got the Dunlop 535Q and absolutely love it.

Wait till they have the Vox V847 instock and try that one,I think you'll like it.
I have one and it has a much more wider sweep than a standard crybaby.And it seeems athat the more amp gain you use the more noticable the wah sound gets.This after all the same wah-wah Clapton,Hendrix,Page and tons of others use.
The Clyde McCoy is sposed to be like a muted trumphet sound not a normal wah.And as afr as my ears have told me The V847 has kicked all the crybaby type wahs I've ever played through.
Another one that is spossed to be good is the Boss wah with all the fanc modes etc...I heard it on a promo CD and it sounded nice.

Ive got the 535Q and dont like it, the range just isnt enough. Ive tried other cry babies too and thought the same, although the cheapest cry baby was even worse. Im currently on the look out for the rackmounted cry baby, its not available in the UK so am waiting on a 2nd hand one on ebay :(
