playing accoustic

im pretty frustrated. I have a great guitar/accoustic/electric Taylor and want to be able to play lead effectively. my head knowledge is great but execution is pretty bad. I can't seem to get the right attack in order to project. when i play at home, it's okay, but when i go to accoustic jams, i have to play so hard to be heard, i lose any technique at all. Any ideas, besides using an amp?

learn to vary your attack. rather than just picking at noromal stready pace like you would with electric, pick very hard at times where you want emphisis and pick softerwhen you want to be smooth.

there are many things you can try, two other ideas i have is to practice your hammer ons and pull offs so they sound stronger and even try using a chours pick (it looks kinda like a little metal comb attached to a pick.)

Ya, hammer ons and pull offs are tougher for me on an acoustic. I know what your saying though about having to play harder to be heard. Im guessing your more concerned about your picking hand, but is it strumming chords, picking individual notes, or both?
