this is probably going to sound like a stupid question to some , but what are the advantages of a floyd rose?
i thought about getting a washburn wr 154 w/ floyd roses but i thought to myself "does this just cause un needed hassle?" ive played a jackson with floyd's and i cant tell the difference
will someone please explain this to me?

Since you asked.......

*The fine tuners ALONE are worth getting the Floyd Rose.....If you're gonna do any serious whammy stuff, you'll need the double locker or at least Sperzels.....Did I mention how CONVENIANT it is to have to fine tuners on stage? :D......

i own two guitars with floyd roses. a jackson and an ibanez. i hate floyd rose now. They are a serious pain in the ass even if you know how to use them. unless you are a pro, into serious whammy bar- consider a simpler bridge design.

If your'e intrested in trem bars , and you wanna do some sonic tricks with it nothing is better than a Floyd Rose bridge for 2 reasons:
1)Wide Range.
2)Stays in tune no matter what.

The disadvantage however is that FR systems are more complicated when it comes to setup or changing the strings ... If you don't want to use the trem bar , then get a fixed bridge guitar.

I used to have a Washburn with a FR. I changed the strings twice and sold it, I hated it !

Hah! Go figure! :D

I recently bought a disassembled Washburn A10 Stage Series re-issue with a Floyd Rose! I'm replacing the chrome hardware with gold plated pieces, and the quality difference between the different manufacturers is very noticeable. I'm still waiting for delivery of some of the parts, but when I finish rebuilding it I expect to have some comments to make.

I have an original A20-CS Stage Series string-through-body hardtail that I love, so the comparison should be interesting.
