Any choice methods to deal with hecklers?
I've only been heckled once, but it's so annoying to see people who haven't the balls to climb on stage (it was an open mic, so they had the opportunity to back themselfs up if they really were such hot performers) mocking those who do.
I'm torn between ignoring them, embarrasing them, and/or sicking "Ug" (our self appointed bouncer) on them in the future. Any ideas, stories, idle commentary?

Try going to a comedy club. Comedians always get heckled and they always have some good ways to handle it.

*is ALWAYS prepared.....Discuss with the management what to do BEFORE hand and have their bouncers ready to go....After all, this is YOUR lively-hood and moment in the spotlight....I jumped off stage one night and beat the SCHIT out of a heckler..Next thing I know, I'm tanglin' with half the crowd....SCARY !!!! You simply have it arranged that if a heckler opens his mouth, you raise your arm and point...The bouncer will do his job and the crowd WILL respect you for it...No fuss, no muss.....BE PROFESSIONAL :)

the 4th mode on my amp the band calls 'heat beam'...I've never been jeered at but if it ever does happen I'll just disintegrate them ;-)

heat beam eh?
Well, wait 'till I've got my 1,200 watt Sunn head and a suitable number of cabinets...

I like the "grab bouncer's attention then say 'him, gone, NOW' method" though...
