ive had my electric for as long as i had my acoustic. im very comfortable with the acoustic, but i cant play the electric for ****. i feel so uncomfortable just holding it. i mean i always play my acoustic sitting down, with its base comfortable sitting on my hip. but my Strat is too thin for that, so it keeps slipping down from my hip. and im so used to having a wide body where i can rest my arm while strumming, but, again my Strat is rather thin for that. i try playing standing up but i feel like im holding the guitar awkwardly and i get tired in 5 seconds. i have to bend my wrist like 180 degrees so i can reach the strings. i shorten my strap but that doesnt help much. i dont know what to do or how to fix my mistake, cause i dunno what im doing wrong in the first place. i like my electric and i wanna be good at it. but i cant practice if i cant even hold the instrument correctly.... help?

thx a bunch!!

ever thought about looking at some pictures and/or videos of electric guitar players?

yea i download live videos and such, and that doesnt help much, if not makes things worse lol. i download old and new rock videos and i see guitarists playing with the guitars VERY low, like around their hips-knees. i dunno i thought "normal" is like around ur waist or so. some of these people play so low they actually have to bend their body a bit. not sure here...

i have to bend my wrist like 180 degrees so i can reach the strings.

You mean like Marty Friedman ???
If that's the only way you can play , you should learn how to play like that ... BTW , Friedman sets his strap normaly so the guitar is almost the same height as the waist.
