My question is which is the most efficient way to learn guitar? Is it by playing too many songs, or practicing scales, playing others solo.............
You might think that being a guitarist you need to do that all, but I dont think while you are practising you need to play the same scale over and over for so many years(which you've already mastered). You dont feel like playing certain songs after you played it once. So what you play more to enhance the quality of your sound? ------please dont write me "practice more scales"....I am doing this for almost 8 years......I wanna know the most efficient way that you all follow to improve your playing.
As for me I prefer to practice more tricks and techniques rather than playing those lifeless scales.

Very good question. I have been wanting to know this too. I think being able to create your own songs using what theory you know is a very good thing to practise at. Also just improvising and always trying to improve your technique is always a good thing. Being able to use scales is useful but i think learning to be able to use them in interesting and different ways is the most important thing.

I just keep playing everything over and over, whether it be scales or tricks etc. until something new pops up from listening.

The most efficient way to learn guitar I suppose would be to hire a teacher, but that, IMO, is like cutting the corners - meaning you don't learn everything you would by yourself, all the fine points - as well as limiting the creativity of the whole deal. Other than a teacher, you've got to listen to tunes all the time you're not practicing for your subconcious to learn. Styles will rub off on you, as well as riff ideas, so becareful not to limit yourself to one or two artists in particular (one or two styles for sure).

Other than that, the more you play guitar, the better you'll be! That's all I can say: Listen as much as you practice, and practice all the time.
