Well I know almost noting about drummers, so if any of you could list a few really good, well known drummers I'd appreciate it.

My brother's a drummer but doesn't listen to any particular music to enhance his drumming other than the ordinary. He's more of a jazz drummer though. I think Jon Bohnam (spelling on that) from Led Z. was pretty good. Mictch Mitchelle from the J.H. Exp. too. Other than that I'm pretty ignorant.

Neil Peart (from Rush - probably the best rock drummer around)
Larry Mullen Jr. (U2)
Phil Selway from Radiohead is OK

I second Mitch Micthell (Experience) and John Bonham (Led Zep)

Oh yeah, and Meg White.

John Bonham (All over the drums violently like a fat kid on a cupcake) - Led Zepplin
Carter Beauford - Dave Matthews Band
Tommy Lee (very underrated drummer)- Motley Crue
Neil Pert (unbelievable) - Rush

My drummer has been telling me Travis from Blink182 is pretty good. I'm not sure if he's just pulling my leg, because he's the sort to do that, or if its true. It'd surprise me considering that Blink 182 is that great of a band according to my standards.

Actually, he is pretty good, which is annoying, since I hate their music so much.

yea man, i've gotta say from the few stuff that i've seen of him, he's a pretty dedicated musician. it wouldn't surprise me if after the blink phase goes away he moves on to other things involving drumming.

Of course you would like the drummer from Primus... cause of your new band.

Travis Barker is one of the runners up in the WFD (World's Fastest Drummer) competition this year. The guy has serious chops, but Blink still sucks...

Some of my favorite drummers:

Vinnie Colaiuta
Virgil Donati
Flo Mounier
Derek Roddy
Terry Bozzio
John Longstreth
Jason Rullo
Thomas Lejon
Thomas Haake
Tim Yeung
Nicholas Barker

(I like a lot of extreme metal drummers)

Besides the mentioned guys, I am pretty impressed by Deftones' drummer(don't know his name)

Well, I mean, it's not because of the new band. I'm in the new band because I like Primus so much. Besides, we're not a cover, just influenced.

Obviously, he immediately recognized the awesome power contained within my posts and wisely chose a diplomatic solution (complete, unconditional surrender).

I'd have to say he completely bypassed any conflict whatsoever, deeming it unworthy of confrontation.

Ummm...you do realize that you're arguing over the fact that I didn't argue, right? Anyhow, I just didn't feel like typing the fact that the only album of theirs I own is one my bassist burnt for me and it's actually a compilation instead of just one actual album.

I do indeed, and nicely put. Couldn't've put it better myself................ or could I have?

Ummm...awareness in the matter of arguementation is to be determined. ?

I figured something like that was at the root of this.

Here, this should help you out. (http://www.primussucks.com/)

Matt Skitz (Damaged)
One of the fastest and has the wierdest beats
Download Dreggs. At 0:26 it really kicks in.

John Sankey (Devolved)
One of the only cases I've seen where the drummer gets most of the recognition in the band.

Brian Harvey (Pig Destroyer)
Danny Carey (Tool)

I'd have to say Jimmy Chamberlain (sp) from the pumpkins and zwan. I know he isn't really respected as a great drummer, but some of his stuff on the pumpkins album is amazing... And listen to him on Lyric on the Zwan album if ya don't belive me... Moon must be smiling down on him...

(Oh yeah and Moon, Bonham, Mitchell etc... but they go without saying)
