What's the diference between neck thru or bolt on???
Why steve vai, satriani and malmsteen use bolt on???
I've eard that guitars with a neck thru have great sustain... but still... these artists have it with bolt on guitars...
I'm an adept of sustain and tremolo... What shall i buy?
Thanks

its true there is more sustain on a neck thru but there are many other things that come in presnence when buying a guitar. I really wouldnt pay much attention to bolt on neck through but more on playbility, quality, and somewhat looks. Plus there is many others things professionals do to increase sustain, not based on the type of neck.

Play it first. listen to it first. Make your decision on that. Ibanez arnt my favorite guitars so i be the wrong person to ask...but my advice is top notch!

I believe the Satriani and Vai play bolt on necks because of the simple fact that as abusive as they are, it's pretty easy to break a neck on a guitar. With a bolt on you can just slap another neck on and go, whereas a neckthru you pretty much might as well scrap. That would really suck if it's your favorite guitar you broke the neck on.

The problem is that the stores around here (pt) don't have many guitars in stock... to have exactly what u want u have to order it... so, at the moment is very dificult to me to make a good decision based on facts... that's why i need some help...

All I have to say to that, is: "Quando um burro fala, o outro calas".

bem... já agora estou curioso. Se sabes de um bom sitio para experimentar guitarras (mas guitarras acima da média) diz... Era o q já devias de ter feito em vez de tar com merdas...

Sorry, but that's all the Portuguese I can speak... Seriously, I only know that one expression, and I use it as much as possible.

... and I think we can guess what "de tar com merdas..." means!

Yeah, apparently, it means "When one donkey (or dummy) speaks, the other keeps quiet". Some Portuguese dude taught it to me.

what i said in portuguese was: (well... I'm curious. If you know a good place to try guitars (top guitars) you just go ahead and say it... That's what you should have done instead of saying that shiit...)
I'm sorry... I thought you were portuguese. I missunderstood the message..
At least you've learned some new words...
