I love you, but why don't you try to post things under the right category on the forum. I let you go this time... but next time. YOU SHALL DIE. Nah, I'm just kidding. Half of my top 5 guitarists aren't famous, but I'll post 5 famous ones... if I can think of any...

1) Bonnie Raitt
2) Eric Clapton
3) BB King
4) Jewel (she sucks, but I liked her... so let it go)
5) my big brother

How many times have we seen this thread?

Ok

1.Me
2.Raffi
3.Maria of "The Sound of Music"
4.Justin Timberlake
5.John Mayer

You know something funny? I actually saw John Mayer play on Conan O'Brien a few weeks ago. He wasn't that bad, but he was playing with BUDDY GUY!!! The two of them did a little solo duel kind of thing. Imagine, John Mayer thinking he could hang with Buddy Guy...I just wanted to go up to John and say "Dude...stop."

Hey I have heard a rippin version of Wind Cries Mary that John Mayer did. It was awesome...but the rest of his stuff I just can't get into. If I ever did though, I think I would put a bullet in my head, so maybe that's a good thing.
Also iiholly, never use the words Jewel and ...sucks in the same sentence in my presence. You get me all excited, since she is a babe. :)

OH ok ok my top 5:
This week it's...
1) Steve Lukather
2) Lil Stevie Vai
3) SRV
4) Brad Paisley
5) Kirk Hammet (LOL just kidding. He's not worthy of my list)
the real number 5 is.... Clapton.

She was taking the piss out of how the Britney Spears' and Christina Aguilera's use looks and sexuality to sell records.

My guitar influences would have to be
Jimmy Page
David Gilmore
Michael Akerfeld
Joe Stump
Niccolo Paganini (he's wasn't a guitarist but still influenced how I play)

John Petrucci - Solos like Under a Glass Moon have been a huge influence on my phrasing and melodic approach.

Michael Romeo - What most people get from Yngwie, I got from him. Also, he showed me the true potential of tapped arpeggios and legato licks in shred.

George Bellas - This guy showed me what you can do with economy picking, to which I'm a recent convert.

Stephan Forte - His instructional video is coming out soon. His solos on Adagio's "Underworld" are just so outrageously good!

Shawn Lane - His sense of melody was just plain amazing. A true legend.

:) it could be, but i just enjoy the music...im usually quick to judge bands, but i have stuck with system and i have liked them constantly alot...i also find alot of the music i write to "have the same feel" of a soad song...but there are plenty of other armenians in rock i dont listen to (Apex Theory(liked them for a while), and the guitarist of Dream Theature is Armenian (never bothered getting into them)...........Soad is closest thing to "pop" i listen to, everything else is black or extreme (slayer, kreator, etc.)

Mine are the usual ones:

Van Halen
Alex Lifeson
.. plus a bunch of others I don't know the names of...the guys from the Shadows, Starcastle, the Beatles, and yes.. The Partridge Family... no joke. They were the first songs I ever learned and they were recorded by some of the best L.A. session musicians around.. like Tommy Tedesco. So it was like taking a crash course in studio techniques, harmonies and pop songwriting.

I think I get just as much inspiration from none guitar players though.
Like the original keyboard player for Saga played some incredible lead lines.
Even inspiration from none musicians.... Charlie Chaplin, just because he'd do 200 takes until he got something right and wouldn't accept second best.
Isaac Asimov, for originality and the shear volume of material he put out.

I play guitar and bass, and I'd say the closest I have for "influences" would have to be
The two main ones are
Kurt Cobain
Krist Novoselic
And then not so much:
Angus Young
I also listen to lots of other guitarists and bassists, but I wouldn't say any of them have really influenced the way I play like these have.

I have far too many influences considering my songs are a miss-match of genres and styles. I'll try to narrow down the major ones.

David Gilmore (the reason why I started playing guitar)
Michael Angelo (he's a **** songwriter but he's the reason why I learnt to shred)
Jon Levasseur (Cryptopsy)
Zac Joe/Steve Goldberg (Cephalic Carnage)
Paul Waggoner/Dusty Waring (Between The Buried And Me)

THC
