I know you can plug most wahs in backwards, never tried it. also, I can get alot of weird sounds using my morely bass wah and a distortion pedal. Just try stuff, you'll find new sounds eventually.
dunno about tricks, but i know joe satriani uses his to enhace his harmonic dive bobmbs and stuff by putting it to the floor when he plays them
i have tried this and it works pretty well

I've build in an old wah-pedal inside a normal stompbox. This way, U can't control the wah with your foot, only with the finger-knob.
It equals the sound when leaving a wah-pedal in a constant frequency, just like the Dunlop Q-zone.
If you add an EQ-pedal, U can make sounds like playin' inside a beer-can or likewise.
Otherwise, there isn't that much you can do with the wah-sound, tricks I meen.

welll its not much of a trick but if you have an eq, distotion, (i use a flanger & a phasor most of the time) get your wah at the high position (down) and if you walk towords your amp speakers itll make a pulsing feed back instead of straigh feed back... i think its tight as hell myself and use it in songs, kinda like a hendrix effect ,well kinda...hehe

Yeah... I just got a crybaby wah.. trying to figure out how to play with it now.. does anyone have any stomp patterns besides down on the beat, up on the offbeat? I am trying to replicate some funky guitar sounds, but right now I can barely stand to listen to myself..

Not much really, but I find it sounds really cool when you have the pedal in the down position, and as your are tapping some pattern, you slowly move it up. It creates sort of a cataclysmic type sound. Sorta.

Don't over-use the wah....Form your lead and get it down tight...THEN bring the wah in to accentuate certain notes...You'll get the sound you want by knowing WHEN to use it....Build your leads so they rise and fall...At a certain point, you will want to soar and the wah will get you there....Have fun...practice, practice, practice......

You can "color" certain rythms using the wah to achieve a certain goal....An EXCELLENT example would be to watch the video "The song remains the same".....Page does a nice job....

HEY "THE CLYDE" IF YOU FOLLOW THE GUITAR PARTS ON SONGS LIKE VOODO CHILE IT SOUNDS COOL ALSO IF YOU MOVE YOUR MOUTH AND THINK YOU KNOW WHAT YOU WANT TO PLAY THAT HELPS I DO THAT ALL THE TIME EVEN THOUGH I HAVE HAD MY WAH ABOUT 2 YEARS

Strat, you're right!
I also "play" the notes with my mouth, when using the wah-pedal. It helps me express the exact amount of wah I want to produce. Maybee when playing in front of a crowd you'll look stupid, but they'll get used to your vibe and way of mimic'en your sound and in the end, it'll be all to your advantage.

I sometimes leave the pedal halfway depressed. I know Micheal Schenker used to do that in UFO and his own group so just move it in certain postions and see what you come up with.I know it aint much but just me throwing out my two cents here.

Gotichild, try gaspedal.com and musictoyz.com. They've got pretty good service and good pricing on just about any kind of pedal that you might need.

I'm not sure if you my email, so here goes.
Here sre some URL's to look at buying online.

My advice is that you go to a local music store that allows you to sample the effects. That way you can get a feel for the tone you want to achieve and which stomp boxes you will need to achieve it.
Buying online is extremely convenient, but you don't always know what you are getting.
My personal opinion is to stay away from Rogue brand pedals. They are (I think) sub-standard and have lousy tone quality. All of my boxes are Boss brand and I have continued success with them. Excellent quality!

Hey for wah tricks, i can elaborate on what Raskolnikov said.
plug your wah in backwards. it makes a siren sort of sound, and when you move your tone or volume knobs and rock the pedal you can manipulate the sound, it's pretty strange, most people know this trick.

Hey Chris,
Just refer to my earlier post for this information. Like I said then, stick to a brand you know to be quality :). Tone is so important and is almost solely tied to your pedal choice ;).
I could say more, but just read my earlier post, dude. There are tons of places online to buy gear :D. You just have to surf and find them. Here are some additional websites :).

If you need some more help, just email me with what you are looking for. I will search them out and contact you.
Take care & God bless

I play guitar, but my friend i know does a really cool thing with his bass wah. He plugs in both bass distortion and his dunlop bass wah, and slowly pushes the wah down to replicate a sort of windy sound. Pretty cool and worth a try.
