I have an Ibanez RG570 with locking tremelo. I love this guitar and I take really good care of it...or at least I thought I did. I went to a different music store to buy my strings this last time and the genius behind the counter gave me different size strings and told me that these were definetly what I needed. So, needless to say, my guitar is out of tune permenantly it seems. I tried tuning it with the screws in the body but that didn't help much. Does anybody know how to start from scratch with no strings and get it back to the way it was without paying a tech $200? And how are the springs supposed to be set?? any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Steve

Well, you could just change back to the same strings as you were using before and everything should be fine or you could get someone in a music shop to alter the bridge. The guy in my local music shop altered the bridge for me when i changed from 10's to 9's and it took him about 5-10 mins and cost me nothing !

The double locking tremelo is the biggest pain in the ass... Period...
Take it to a professional (it won't cost $200 bucks, more like $30-40 and well worth it) and get it set up. Pick a set of strings you like and STICK WITH THAT BRAND. Do not deviate from the brand. If you like the whammymaster .009's with the .042 low E string, don't go and buy the Slickjam .009's with the .046 low E. That minor change in tension will throw everything out of whack. Your intonation will change, the bridge will probably sit higher, which will make your action higher also. Don't listen to the guy behind the counter, just pick a good set of strings and stick with them.

Yeah, the switching brands is what got me i guess. The string gauges were exactly the same but I've learned my lesson the hard way. I might as well fork out the money and get it over with. Thanks for your help guys.
