Ok guys, here's a question for you. What's your opinion on guitarist's senselessly shredding for minutes on end at the end of their songs? You know what I mean? It sounds to me like they just do scale exercises and such at the end. Maybe it's for dramatic effect, but that effect is lost on me. Satch and Vai (and others) do this a lot. I guess I don't notice as much at their live shows, but I have hours and hours of videos on these guys and I usually just fast forward past these parts as they are too cumbersome for me. Do you know what I'm talking about? Or am I just cryptically babbling on here.

i don't know about Vai and Satch doing that, but it is somewhat of rock standard procedure to end a songs with a bunch of soloing and crash cymbals if thats what your reffering to

Sabbath ends a lot of songs that way, it doesn't bother me unless you can tell they had no other ideas for the to end the song

I don't think it's that bad if they only do it once or maybe twice a set. It's a great climatic effect, but like everything else, over-done is over-done. When it is done at the end of every song it is annoying.

LMFAO!!!

It sucks. I hate it. Just end the song. No need for the drum smashing, highest pitched notes tremolo picked as fast as possible. It's all just random and annoying.

I'd have to agree with you on that one lmao. Yep, if its a live show I don't mind listening to the endless solo if its good. On CD though its get rather boring, and makes me want to play frisbee with the CD the song happens to be on.

I THINK THEY DO IT FOR THE LIVE SHOWS AND TO ENHANCE THE SONG AND THE SPIRIT OF THE MOMENT FOR THE AUDIENCES'S SAKE.

IT COST A LOT OF MONEY FOR A CONCERT TICKET THESE DAYS AND PEOPLE GO TO THE SHOWS BECUASE THEY WANT TO HEAR THE MUSIC BUT ALSO WANT TO BE ENTERTAINED. REMEMBER MARCUS ARILLIUS IN GLADIATORS. HE TELLS THE COLLUSIUM OF PEOPLE "ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED" AFTER KILLING 3 OR 4 OTHER GLADIATORS. THAT'S THE REASON WHY KILLER GUITAR PLAYERS ARE WSO ENERGIZED WHEN THEY HIT THE STAGE.

I saw the Allman Bros at the Ottawa Blues Fest in July 03' and I hated their show. They turned every 3 minute song into a 15 minute guitar solo. I'm all for guitar solos, but come on.

Not all concerts are expensive...

Exactly....cant stand when guitarists make a fast riff an juss build off it for 5 mins then go back an repeat over and over and over and over again

Hmm, I never run into this.

Maybe I'm just lucky?

But in reality, they do it because its fun. Just letting go and goofing off at the end of a song is very fun.

You just made a lot of mindless people who love long pointless outros and solos very angry....

But I'm not one of them.
