Oh dear. I see that those alleged 'humour' merchants The Darkness are up for 4 Brit Award nominations. Can anyone tell me why this bunch of 10th rate Rainbow copycats are so popular. Frankly they annoy the sh*t out of me big time with their rehashing of the cheesiest of all sub genres of rock. Give me Busted any day.

When i first heard them i thought they were quite good. Then i heard some of there other stuff and it just sounds similar and i didnt really like it. They have just gone commercial now and people's mums are buying darkness albums. I mean they are even being played on radio one.

Being a hair band type of guy, I like the music.... but MAN does that singer got to go... They play them all the time on OROCK 105.9 in Orlando, and the guy falsetto sucks... Yeah it's high, but it sounds like s*h*i*t. I won't be buying the album, unless of course it comes up on Ebay for a buck...

I like em. Just not gotta take em serious. N take them in small doses. Afterall its just music n not always as serious as we all make it out to be.

yeah, your right. The same goes for bands like:
- the beserker
- mortician
- cannibal corpse
They are cool bands if you dont take them seriosly and dont listen to them for too long. Well to be honest they are a pile of crap but really funny to listen to. Especially the beserker.

i think the darkness rock, ive seen them live 4 times and they put on an excellent show every time, in fact i would go so far as to say the only gigs ive enjoyed more were the 3times ive seen AC/DC.
i think its odd that people view a bands success/popularity so negatively, whether you like them or not they have done alot to raise the profile of rock music, and they certainly earnt their success.

Most famous bands have earnt there success. I would say the darkness beat busted any day but i still dont like the way the darkness have gone mainstream. It just doesnt seem right. I mean they are being compared to a band that pretend they are playing their instruments.

Busted do play their instruments. If you look at them when they play their instruments youll realise they are playing their instruments.
I liked the Darkness when they came out with the first 2 singles which I liked alot, I feel theyve had too much exposure and its annoying. Plus that christmas single was awful. But they were around a long time before they were signed, I was aware of them in late 2002 from music press, I dled a couple of their live songs and was impressed.
Maybe Im just silly but what are the 2 letters youve starred out from "bu**ers"

Maybe those two letters are "gg", i'm not sure though. I heard that busted didnt really play instruments and havnt really watched them much. Anyway the fact is i think they are quite pitiful.

i've heard of the darkness- the darkness is a very big fan of queen- they were talking about this band in the Queen Club/ Forum that I belonged too I'm shocked to hear that many of the people in that club likes the darkness. The people in the club think they're so good, that they actually think they're very like Queen. I personally find it disgusting. I tried to see what they see in the Darkness that makes them think they're good but I just can't like them. The singer sucks. He's trying to be like Freddie Mercury but he doesnt have the same power and attack and his falsetto sounds gay. The guitar player is good- he's trying to sound like Brian May and play like him but he's not emotional and creative enough. Maybe if they replace the singer and make more decent songs, I'll start liking them. But I still won't put them on the same light as Queen.

I heard a little from bezerker and liked it,but then heard some full tracks and thought it to be junk noise. The drummer is insane though.

There's a big difference between sounding gay and a good falsetto. The singer from Darkness is (probably) not gay but his voice sounds so irritatingly GAY- it's like he's moaning or dying or something!!! Freddie's gay but his voice doesn't sound gay at all- it's very powerful and has lots of attack. Even when he changes voices from a strong attack to a very smooth falsetto- it's so perfect and it sounds nice, it's actually music to the ears- it's not like listening to a horse neighing like that dude from the darkness. No offense to darkness fans. I just don't like the band- not the fans. You guys can like them all you want but I ain't buyin' it.

I'll see you "bah" and raise you one "bull s*h*i*t". The singer on that song " I know a thing about love" sounds like he is gargling spooge on some of those notes.

This is wrong on so many levels and makes me wonder if you've ever even remotely considered of thinking for more than 2 seconds about what you were going to write.
But I'm not going to say any more because your nickname truly does says it all.
Anyway, I'm not too familiar with the Darkness, but they seem like a fun band. That's really all they've got going for them, they're fun, which is exactly why people will grow tired of them really fast.

how is my comment wrong on so many levels spl? no offense but actually, i think you're the one who's writing without doing any thinking here dude. You said so your self- you're not that familiar with the darkness- so how can you make the comparison? I'm very familiar with both Queen and The Darkness so I think I know what I'm talking about. That Darkness dude can't sing a note without sounding like a bad porn movie. No matter how you look at it- even when it comes to technicalities in singing, he just sucks.

SPL, i never imply that you can't have an opinion- i just don't agree with your opinion and I'm just voicing out that disagreement. i have nothing against you as a person so don't take it too personal. now that that's settled, the comparison that I am referring to is the one made between freddie mercury's powerful voice and Justin Hawkin's gay voice which you refer to as homophobic slurs. I admit the word is politically incorrect, but I have nothing against gays. If I was homophobic why do I admire and love freddie so much??? All I'm saying is that Justin Hawkin's voice sucks- it's lame. That's what I meant by gay. It's a completely different meaning of the word just as gay used to mean happy in the old days. It has nothing to do with homosexuality.

er, the origin of the word gay as an insult lies in the fact that was/is used as a slur on homosexuals.
the context in which you originally used the term meant you were using it as an insult so... given your feelings for freddie; just a little ironic, dont you think!

that's why i said its politically incorrect didn't i?
