Definitely The Beatles. They're the only band with enough depth and variety that I could tolerate having only their music to listen to for a few weeks. No one else even comes close.

I think another thing that can cause "long discussions" is religion...some believe and others dont and that right there can make atleast 10 pages and more of oppinions and arrguments

I don't think I have favorite bands anymore. Whenever I find a band I really like, they end up changing their style or all their best songs went into their first coupla albums and they run outa ideas.
Some definite must-have albums though...and yeah, some of these are weird choices.
Supertramp - Crime of the Century: just for the mixing techniques and hidden meanings
Grace Jones - Slave to the Rhythm: I don't like her vocals and a lot of the album has voice overs on the best parts, but if you want something to show off your high end system, just put song #2 on. The music was done by the same guy from the Buggles.
Abba - Gold: If you wanna learn pop songwriting, this is like an owners manual.
Saga - first two albums: synth playing and moog bass pedals back before there was such a thing as sequencers.
FM - first album: same as above
Rush - 2112 and Hemispheres: Classics
Van Halen - First Album: also a classic
Yello - cause they're just weird
Sweet - Desolation boulevard: easy beginner guitar playing
City Boy - awesome guitar playing
Starcastle - awesome guitar playing
Thomas Dolby - excellent synths
... and about 300 other albums too numerous to mention.

What is this best? How do you even define what the best band is? Now favorites a little different. Like I can say my favoirte band are:
Modest Mouse
Pavement
Built to Spill
REM
Led Zeppelin
Live
Reel Big Fish
These band are by no means the best though, well besides Led Zeppelin. To me they are, but what the **** does that matter.
Love you all,
Holly

I saw them a couple of weeks ago in New Orleans... pretty good show.
I'm kinda annoyed they didn't play Skatanic, though.
iiholly
08-17-2004, 08:03 PM
Skatanic is actually on of their few songs that I don't like. You're luck to get to see them live, and they're lucky to have any to have any concerts at all considering how hard it is for anyone to sell tickets this summer.

best pronounced as (b st)
Testament is the best band in the metal scene.
IMHO
a. Having the qualities that are desirable or distinguishing in a particular thing
b. In excellent condition; sound
c. Superior to the average; satisfactory
d. Of high quality
www.dictionary.com
best to me means that my #1 band is the supreme, the mac daddy of all bands...there are no better bands...but thats just my opinion though
iiholly
08-17-2004, 10:06 PM
Smart ass... I mean I understand your point.
My point is that I know Dream Theater is a better than Modest Mouse, but I still like Modest Mouse better. I just don't like the b word *snicker*.

It was PACKED. As have most of their shows this summer, from what I hear.
Then again, they were touring with Lucky Boys Confusion, so let's just say that a large percentage of the audience was wearing pink trucker caps and lucky that I didn't punch them in the face when they kept jabbing me with an unsecured pin somewhere on their backpack.
