i know this is the wrong discussion but oh well....
Ive been trying to master sweeping... I can get the basic upstroke and downstroking part down. But whenver i get to the next string the sound from the other string keeps on ringing. Is there a way to mute that sound without palm muting the whole thing? ( Im sure there is because you guys do it)
I'd appreciate the help. Thank You

Well, each guitarist has their own technique.
Some mute with their palm, others (Michael Angelo) use their fretting hand.
Make sure you aren't using a gob of distortion as this will make it worse. I tend to use palm muting as soon as the note is played, I lift off and make sure it's muted.

I tend to use both my right and left hands to mute while sweeping. My left hand fingers lift slightly after hitting the note, deadening the note, while my right hand palm moves down with my pick, muting each string as I go along. Contrary to most people's thinking, I think sweeping *should* be practiced with tons of distortion, because this forces you to learn to mute the strings well when sweeping.

I use lots of destortion sometimes when i sweep but i have to use destortion from effects box and amp so it sounds even more mental so it would force me to mute strings. Only problem is, is that you may be missing notes and being sloppy and not realizing it. So it would be good to turn down the gain now and again to make sure your getting all the notes. Muting with your fretting fingers is a good way but its harder than doing it by palm muting.
Practicing exercises (specialy sweeping) should be done both clean to make sure you play each note clearly , and with lots of dist to take care of the muting stuff.
Develope your technique with 3-string sweeping first , cuz the muting job would be certainly be easier than more strings sweeping.
You should use both fretting hand and picking hand muting techniques , however , picking hand muting techniques are more usefull ... Take care when you use your palm to mute , that your not doing regular palm muting , you should play the note first , then kill it with your palm.
