9 ball, 8 ball, UK or US? I play for my local bar and enter into amateur comps. Any you guys keen players?

I would consider myself decent. I've only lost once in a tournament in the final round, but it was doubles and my partner sucked, haha. My dad still beats me some, but I'm planning on getting a table for my house soon.

I play rather well for my age (I'm 19). Don't own a pool table, so I spend most of my time at the local bar. Drunk people are more fun to play anyway (and easier to win their money)

i'm at collage and there is a snack bar down the road which has some pool tables and i end up going there everytime i have some free time so i'm quite good. I can beat all my friends easily :) Even my friend who has his own pool table !

Cool, any of you guys done one visits? In our league on my debut I won my singles game ok but thenon the doubles I broke off, potted two reds, went yellow and potted everyone and the black! The other 3 guys didnt get a shot! Aint done that since inthe league but I do it fairly regularly.

pool, now thats my favourite sport! i had a table from ages 13-16, then another from about 20-22, then another from 24 to about 3months ago. i like to play 9ball mostly these days, i find UK pool abit dull/easy,especially on pub tables with their huge pockets.

Good job running out, Axl. I prefer not to run out unless I'm playing in a tourney. First off, people don't like to pay 75 cents to get the table run out on them, that's no fun. Secondly, it's more fun to me to play defensively and hook them when I "accidentally" miss a shot. And finally, unless you're playing for money, you should practice harder shots, like banks, even when you have an easy, open run (and harder shots impress the ladies more ;)

Hey TheDirt, your a fellow pool shark! Yea thats a lot of what we call goal keeping in our leagues, that delibartely leaving a ball over the pocket as a defense method.
Yea one visits are pretty rare against random pub players, but on a monday when our team practise from like 4pm till the match at 8pm I usually pul one off then.
If its on Ill go for it, if not then Ill put a goalkeeper.
The thing with our league is that in the matches we each only get one frame so its too risky going for the one visit. Ive won 11 in a row in our league! Not lost since september. The golden rule is never get too far ahead! If you pot all 7 then miss the black then they just pot and hide. You bide your time and go for the finish when its 100% on!

on a pub table i struggle not to win on the the first visit! a friend and i re-cusioned our table so the pockets were the size of the ball, eg you got the potting angle exact or no pot. after a few weeks of very long games it came as second nature, and playing pub tables was like childsplay! none of my other friends will play me anymore...

I used to be very good back years ago when I had a pool table at the house. I was especially good at trick shots. Now, it's a joke to watch me play, but I still enjoy it very much.

I go once or twice a week to a local bar n play for about 4 hrs with friends. Not to be big headed but I rarely loose. I have my own cue as well. Done a few one visits.

luckily i have someone i can play who is my standard which makes me impove. I hate it when everyone you know is rubbish and you can win easily. It always makes it boring. I suppose its kind of cool knowing you can beat all your friends.
