Hey for any of you out there that know a lot about segovia -
i have a question
Did he ever use some type of pick?
I was listening to the album Art of Segovia and on a few songs it sounded like he was using a pick.... but then again it could just be that he has been playing so long that he had built up his fingers to play like that.

Classical Guitar is Fingerpicking only. Professionals spend hours to put their fingernails in shape. And there is no strict rule for that - everyone has a different technique to work on the nails.
there are also alot of guitarrists who dont use their nails - they just use the fingertips, which have grown pretty hard skin.

That's one of the reasons I quit classical. Nails. I love the sound you get, but my index fingernail grows at an awkard angle (fingertip got slammed in a door when I was about a year old), causing the string to get "hooked" when plucking. This occasionally resulted in some very "snappy" notes, not to mention discomfort.
It also f'ed up my tapping on electric...
