My pick falls in my acoustic one more time. It drives me mad! No method works twice in a row. Like shaking it upside down, it works once every full moon on my guitar. THen you got the hold slide it around till you see it, and then get it out method. Then you have the HOLLY KICKS YOU IN THE FACE METHOD. I hope it dies. The end.

It's not hard to get the pick to the middle of the acoustic, right? Well, place a piece of tape double sided on the eraser of a pencil, stick the pencil in the guitar and touch the pick. Voila!

Or you can play with a metal pick so you can get it out with a magnet - metal picks have a really nice tone on acoustics too.

These things work quite fine - they cover the resonance hole on the guitar so that nothing can fall in. normally these things are used to avoid feedbacks with the interrior microphone of the guitar on high volumes (on stage for example).

Drill a small hole in the pick and attach a long bit of thread. Attach the other end of the thread to your wrist....end of problem !

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I do the ol' shaking-while-the-soundhole-points-downwards trick. After about 30 secs. of shaking (max), I hear that satisfying "ting" as the pick hits the strings on the way out.

But I totally know what you mean; I used to play acoustic much more, and that darned pick would fall in half the times I played. Now I'm more into using my fingers, though.

... oh, and please, don't kill me.

Sorry for doing this again, but the phrase is actually "once every blue moon." And I usually use the "Evan smashes the guitar against the wall" method.

"Once every full moon" is also a phrase which can be used, and I use it.

I like the duct tape idea.

Not too long ago I accidentally dropped a pick in someone's taylor. That's always embarassing, because you shake one of those around you're going to get your head forcefully removed and for good reason.

You know you may not be sitting up totally straight.
I'm not gonna tell you how to hold the guitar as that would be an insult...

Insults can be great learning experiences and they can save all kinds of trouble. Like back problems.

If you don't stop these threats. I'll be forced to testify, then I'll have to enter the guitarist protection program and move to Utah.

iiholly

Well hopefully not Utah, because you just told me... bad policy to tell someone who wants to kill you where you're going to hide. I could be wrong though.

Nah they won't put you in Utah, more like Montana.... The sheer vastness of nothing but land will kill your pursuers from sheer boredom... no offense to anyone from Montana :)

Have you tested the pick strapped to hand type thing product eggman?

iamthe_eggman
12-10-2003, 09:58 PM
Yeah, but the duct tape residue is awfully hard to get off... then you need to use the rubbing alcohol all over and ;l'sgdsalmdgs

Sorry, just had a bad rubbing alcohol fume trip there...

No, I haven't tried one of those ringy type picks - I happened across them while checking out picks on Musician's Friend. Not really up my alley, anyways.

And, yes, I too will be moving to... yeah, Utah, that's it...Utah....

NOT QUEBEC.

Well, when I get it, if I get it I'll tell you guys if it works out or not.

Hey, speaking of weird ass things like those picks, has anyone else heard of these "fingerweights" you can get online? They sound like a load of bull**** to me.

Yea, I'm generally pessimistic when it comes to "revolutionary" guitar products. Nothing can take the place of hard work at our craft.
