Anybody heard of Racer X? Are they related to Planet X? Has anybody heard of Planet X?

I think most everyones hears of Racer X.

In fact, I played the classic Paul Gilbert track 'Frenzy' (from their album Street Lethal) at a talent show once. Good times.

And no, they're not related to Planet X in any way that I know of. Although, both of them have fantastic guitar players.. Racer X has Gilbert, and Planet X has Macalpine.

Sorry about the double-post. There's an unlucky number involved.

YeeeeeAHH!!!! RACER-X! THE BADDEST!
If you haven't heard these cats you're certainly missing something. If you dig your 'chops, then I'm certain you'd love this stuff'

My Webmaster (http://www.naturallywireddesigns.com/) is very tight w/these way-out cats, does their website & we do everything we can to show our respect & support. Their talent runs far-n-wide; Scott Travis is Judas Priest's drummer, Jeff Martin (VOX) has played drums for many bands including; Badlands, MSG, UFO, and lots more.

You might dig this- my band's done a cover of a RACER-X tune for a record company release.

I've been in a biased musical shell for a long time; so many decent musicians I'm discovering in my little adventure.

The thing about Racer X is that everyone seems to give credit only to Paul Gilbert, while Bruce Bouillet is actually doubling Gilbert's lines most of the time ("Technical Difficulties"). In my eyes, Bruce is just as great a player as Paul.

As for Planet X, these guys are unreal. Virgil Donati is one of the finest drummers out there today, and puts most other progressive people (like Portnoy) to shame. Amazing technique, and such an unbelievable grasp of rhythm. Their guitarist, Tony Macalpine, is an unbelievable shredder, as well as an accomplished piano virtuoso.

I'm not sure, but are you refering to THE ALBUM "Technical Difficulties"??

RACER-X of course, has 'reformed' the old group. All these cats play in their 'real' gigs (such as Scott Travis w/Judas Priest, etc.) and RACER-X is essentially a side-gig they keep going.

Bruce IS and WAS an awesome guitarist/musician. He hasn't played with the X-MEN since they first disbanded back in the day. All the latest releases; "Technical Difficulties", "Super Heroes", "Snowball of Doom - Live at the Whisky", and "Getting Heavier" have been recorded and performed without Bruce (Although Bruce did mix the "super Heroes" album).

Bruce had a band called "The Scream" with RACER-X bassist John Alderete (after the original RACER-X). The latest I've heard is that he's recording & gigin' w/his new thing "EPIDEMIC". Not the Shred-o-Terror "X-fans" are used to, but still super quality 'chops!

Do you really need all those "Z"s? Lay off on the unnecessary consonants, Snoop Dogg.

LOL. Sorry. Had the keyboard set to Norwegian as opposed to the usual Swiss. The "y" and "z" switch places when I change the setting. My apologies...
