I went to Amazon.com today to see what all the hubub was concerning the "White Stripes." Ok, while Jack White' string slinging skills are way lacking, I was actually really impressed with the lyrics. And the drumline was pretty good too.

The White Strips are not good in my opinion. The singing and lyrics are just dumb. The singing sounds the same on everysong (see: monotone, tonedeaf). The lyrics (see: The hardest button to button) are terrible.

Just my 2c.

The drumline?? If you like a constant 4/4 beat at the same tempo for a full album, then yes, the drumline is excellent. I cant listen to Elephant without getting a headache, I cant deal with her drumming. My favourite album of theirs is "De Stijl", it shows alot more variety than the 2 latest ones(I dont have their debut) and I think the songwriting is better. I like some of Jack's lyrics but I think hes a very underrated guitarist.

Jack White claimed that Stevie Ray Vaughan wasn't "all that good", and supported that piece of information with the fact that "anyone can play the blues". What an arrogant f*ck.

Oh, and I wouldn't touch his music with a stick.

The hardest button to button has to be the worst song in the history of rock(..."it was a baby boy, so we bought him a toy...") And the White Stripes are OVERRATED.

Button To Button sucks, I'll give you that, and yes, the differentiation between the songs on Elephant can be.... minor at places. When I got the CD, and was listening to it while driving home, and the song "There's No Room For You Here" or something started up, I thought it was Dead Leaves on the Dirty Ground from the last CD. Because the guitar part is literally the exact same thing.

Jack White, from what I've heard, sounds like he's bipolar... one of my friends met him backstage at their last LA show, and she said that he's a totally nice, cool guy. But he also refuses (or did refuse at one point) to give autographs to people because he thinks autographs are stupid. He also tears into other pro musicians left and right, which isn't cool, seeing as much as he built a career on making 17 year old girls wearing black-rimmed glasses cry and then get horny with 1.5 chord songs.

But Seven Nation Army, Little Acorns, Dead Leaves On The Dirty Ground and Fell In Love WIth A Girl are pretty cool, IMHO, and they also have good lyrics.
