View Full Version : FINALLY... some pics

Okay... this is like my 4th attempt at getting pics up and I'm hoping that this will finally work. I have a few pics of my guitars that I plan on putting up soon, right now, it's mostly just pics of me and the Mrs.
http://home.earthlink.net/~gabrielleweiss/picpage/us/Me.jpg
that's me... i look kinda like Johnny Bravo in that pic, heheh. I think my hair looks kinda cool.
http://home.earthlink.net/~gabrielleweiss/picpage/us/gaby.jpg
this is Gaby, my fiance, we've been together since we were 15. This pic was taken before we went to a club (hence the fishnets); she's holding our cat, Samantha, and to her right is my Epi SG Special, which I learned to play on. Sounds pretty cheap, but looks pretty cool. If you have a good monitor you can see that the strings are strung backwards... since I'm a lefty.
http://home.earthlink.net/~gabrielleweiss/picpage/us/meandgaby.jpg
this is an old pic of us before I started losing weight. I look kind of like tom green somehow. But Gaby is beautiful as ever. This is what playing a guitar and being a nice guy will get you... even if you're chubby and look like a mod from Saskatchewan.
http://home.earthlink.net/~gabrielleweiss/picpage/pets/chirp1.JPG
I've had this bird since I was 9. Her name is Chirpie Cheeseburger (again, I've had her since I was 9, I just call her Chirpie) now. She's the only reason I'm alive, in all truth.... and I'm serious about that....
http://home.earthlink.net/~gabrielleweiss/picpage/us/gabymadras.JPG
to whatever dork it was that said we didn't have lives, and needed girlfriends... well... yeah. What I think is kinda funny w/Gaby and pictures, is that depending on the photo, the light, etc, you see other parts of her ethnicity... in the first one she looks pretty Arab, in the 2nd one she looks totally French, and in the last, she just looks, well, like a Jewish chick... go figure.
That's it for now... more tomorrow or the day after.

Here's me with a kid's choir, that I did for a track with Jean Jacques Goldman (Celine Dion's Songwriter, and one of many Joe Cocker's producers)

And that's my latest guitar, a luthier made tele style guitar.
There also a pic of my wife and JJG on my site... It's all in french, you'll have to look for it ;)

You need to have your pictures uploaded somewhere on the web that allows remote linking. Once there, you need to know the URL, including http;// and all that stuff.
Next, quote somebody who posted a picture in this thread to see how to use vB code to actually get the picture into your post.
lalimacefolle: I haven't seen you here in forever, what's been up?

IH.
My PhD was in Cell Biology and Drug Delivery though Im currently working on endocytosis.
I'm trying to figure out how a set of proteins that are thought to mediate vesicle tethering (before Trans- SNARE formation and vesicle fusion) work.
Just got a final Postdoctoral grant from the American Heart Association (last installment of $130 000 USD over 3 years... cool) !

OK Rask, Ill try not to use too much jargon.
Endocytosis (the internalization, sorting, movement and either recycling or degradation of extracellular material enclosed in membrane bound vesicles)
This is important as it performs many functions critical for cellular homeostasis. For example, it is vital for mediating the degradation on receptor bound ligands (signaling molecules) as well as the down regulation of receptors. It also functions to degrade old pieces intracellular machinery (such as receptors) that have passed there sell by date (in the lysosome).
How is endocytosis regulated? (you don’t want a vesicle containing useful stuff fusing with a lysosome)
A series of regulated membrane sorting, budding and fusion events all controlled by specific families proteins ensures that during endocytosis the right molecules get to the right places. The minimal machinery required for fusion consists of a family of proteins called SNARES and fusion specificity is partly conferred by different combinations of SNARE proteins resident on opposing pre- fusion membranes.
However, SNAREs alone are too promiscuous to account for specificity during all intracellular fusion event and it has been proposed that other molecular mechanisms are also responsible for regulating fusion. One such set of proteins are referred to as tethering molecules which function up stream of SNARE mediated fusion. These tethering molecules have been found and characterized during several different fusion events and they are all very different.
I am working on a set of tethering proteins that function during endosomal fusion. It also appears that they are involved in not only vesicle fusion but also vesicle movement which is really exciting as it bridges two biological fields that don’t really talk to each other i.e. membrane trafficking and the cytoskeleton / vesicle movement people.

Yeah ok so the floor is made of dirt and theres no windows, but I'm looking into that.
This is my garage, and all my cars parked out front.

the boss looked the other way we took 'em off)
This is the office's weirdo, He's a bit creepy but as long
