The "G" word era

Ok, I know of some bands from the era.(Grunge)It was some cool music!

Any way the bands i know are Nirvana Alice in Chains Pearl Jam Smashing Pumpkins Soundgarden.

I know there are more and i would like your responses on other bands from the era.

Man I was hoping that era was just a bad dream, but another band from there was Stone Temple Pilots.

Of all those bands, the only true "Grunge" band was Nirvana. If you like them, you might want to check out Mudhoney.

While not exactly Grunge, some other Seatle bands of the day to check out would be The Gits and 7 Year Bitch.

hairbnd made a good suggestion with STP. While most people point to Core as a great album (it definately rocks the hardest of their efforts), I'd say their best album was Tiny Music... Songs From the Vatican Gift Shop.

A lot people don't notice that there would be no grunge without the Pixies. There are many a not famous bands from that era that are really good. Mad Season, Temple of the Dog, Mother Love Bone, etc. I can't really think of any right now.

I was going to suggest going back a bit further and checking out Sonic Youth -- very much a big deal on the development of what would later be known as grunge.

Temple of the dog..... Didn't that have members of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden mixed together? I know Vedder and Cornell were in it.

Yea, but Vedder only did that one song with them. I think it was Cornell and mostly the other members were from Pearl Jam. I think the bassist or drummer was from Soundgarden.
