Graphic guitar bodies- like/ hate?

anyone here has a liking for graphics on their guitar bodies? why/ why not?

personally i feel that the graphics add nothing to tone & it has a limited appeal. however, i've recently auditioned a BC Rich Bodyart series & it's a good player...

BC rich does have some pretty cool designs on their guitars, but I don't like graphics on my guitars for some reason.

I have stickers on a couple guitars, and I've seen some pretty cool art on them, but by and large, i tend to just prefer the stock looks.

A few of the Bodyart guitars have really cool designs on them, but some of them are cheesy and the one that's the pick of a girl's ass with a thong... that's just pathetic, most of the people that are gonna want that guitar will probably be 13-16 year olds who smoke too much weed, but their parents won't let them get it.

it's love/ hate with the BC Rich bodyart series. i would have thought that those graphics were all too cheesy until i tried one. it's a warlock model & it played very well. these guitars are nevertheless affordable. i can't imagine buying a $3K+ guitar with a graphic body though...

some guitars do realy have some cool art on em like the john petrucci one.. however - plain airbrushed things are nothing for me - the guitar that is beeing built for me right now will have carvings on it mixed with aibrush accents - it will be sooo damn cool.

Guitar graphics are kinda like tatoos - unless you're very careful about what you pick, you're stuck for a long time with something that doesn't look cool anymore.

the graphic bodies did make it big in the '80s though, but there's not gonna be a revival anytime soon. players still prefer solid colored finish, black being the most in demand.

If you ask me, i think that guitarplayers are pretty narrowminded when it comes to things apart from the regular.
I mean look at the bassplayers - normally a bas has 4 strings and now look at how many diferent basses there are 4-12 strings, fretless, wierd shapes and colors - and hten look at the guitarists - fretlessguitars are extremely rare (i know of vigier and godin to produce frettles guitars) normally 6 strings - 7 stringers are also a minority, and as for the shapes.. most guitars are strat shaped and boring looking.. and when it comes to a graphic on the body.. well ...

guitarists basically stick to what's 'safe'. the reason we don't see much change with strats & Les Pauls. there have been variations along the way but they still look the way they are when they were first conceived.

which is a good & bad thing. good being- if it ain't broke why fix it? bad being- the chances of discovering something new & better (maybe) are scaled down.

my dealer is kinda whining these days, it seems that the solid colored guitars get better reception than those with peculiar graphics.

I like the graphic guitars myself, being raised in the 80's during the hair band days. I own a few of them that are very cool, like my Klein Shattered Glass Kramer, My Tye Dyed Kramer, etc., but mostly I play solid color guitars or dyed bodies. No graphics hit the stage here.
