We're talking a lot here about technique, best players etc but which bands do you think are the biggest fun. Which would you've liked to've been in yourselves whether top players or not. From what ive read, I dont think playing with Zappa or James Brown wouldve been much fun. hard taskmasters who fined players for playing bum notes.

I guess a fair smattering of booze, groupies and a the occasional snort of bolivian marching powder would have to figure somewhere.Dave Lee Roth wouldve probably been a bit of a laugh to be around and dare I say it Motley Crue too. Then there's Aerosmith but praps most of all Led Zep and AC/DC. Not sure what their offstage antics were like but on stage the Tubes would be hard to beat.

Marilyn Manson puts on a crazy live show, you would probley get some kind of injury on stage though hehe, Slipknot i wouldnt want to be on stage with beacuse you would probley get killed too lol, but they put out so much energy and have stuff going on, Malice Mizer From Japan put on awsome live shows with huge props and such.

I think when he was alive, Jimi Hendrix would've been fun to jam with. With everyone in the band getting baked, anything would fly.

I'm gonna have to go with Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley. Getting stoned and jamming. Sounds fun to me.

No quite a few bands dont seem much fun to be in e.g. those that choose to have Perrier water and fruit on their riders rather than crate loads of Jack Daniels and a bunch of babes clearly up for a bit of party action. I dont think it's a whole lot of fun to be in backing bands where youre treated like an employee the way James Brown and Mick Hucknall do. It's not much fun where the 'leader' /songwriter makes you rehearse the the same song a zillion times . I'm not sure it's a big laugh being in 'serious' bands making 'serious' music with 'serious' messages about isolation, paranoia etc. Personally I'd rather be in Motley Crue, Aerosmith or Led Zep than REM, Radiohead or U2. But some of the wildest, hardest living/partying dudes come from the jazz and country music worlds/ e.g. Merle Haggard, Steve Earle, Willie Nelson, Charlie Parker. I guess being with these guys wouldve been a wild ride.

For some Canadian content, I'd have to nominate April Wine, and any of the many bands Rockin' Ronnie Hawkins got involved with. The music was great fun - and Maritimers damn sure know how to party!
