I am looking into purchasing a new guitar and came across this guitar made by a company named Godin. I think the guitar plays great and was reasonably priced. Anyone heard anything about them? Pros, cons, I'm open to suggestions.

I checked their website out and found out they are out of Canada and have been building guitars for about 20 years. I personally have never heard of anyone using this type of guitar but their "Players..." lists some pretty common names. (Billy Corgan and Kirk Hammett to name a few)

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

We have a lot around a store around here. The guitars appearantly all have a good tonal sound and are clean. Nothing you could drop and slap heavy chords on (or at least get that bad ass of a sound on)

But for the most part they are supposed to play pretty clean. Some of them have funky sizes, so make sure you get something suitable for you..unless you dont care about those things.

Thats about all i know...hope i somewhat helped.

About how much are you spending?

I think the price on the one I was looking at was around $500 or maybe a little less.

I've checked out some reviews on it and pretty much everyone loves the guitar. It seems to be very versatile. Ranging from metal to blues to punk to ska. I don't know I'm still unsure.

Godin, Seagull, Art & Luthier - all are made by the same company out of Canada. Good bang for the buck. Bottom line: If it sounds good to you, it's good!

My neighbour uses a Godin, electric. H/S/H setup. The only complaint I have is that when you switch pickups there is not that much difference in tone. However I'm sure if you set the pickups differently you can change that.

Thanks for all the feedback. I think I'll go back and play it again and see what I think. It sounded great and I think with my trade in I'll get the guitar around $100-150. So I don't think it will be a bad idea.

I think I'm going to trade in my Washburn electric acoustic. I only bought the guitar for $50 because my friend is an idiot. The same guitar lists for about $599 plus I got a hard case too. Talk about a steal... :)
